Week 1
Fiddler on the Roof
Students learned the original Broadway choreography from the 2016 Fiddler on the Roof revival, directed by Bartlett Sher and choreographed by Hofesh Shechter. Class began with a warm up used by both the Broadway and touring companies and transitioned into the repertoire.
Week 2
Wicked & Audition Prep
Students learned Jessica Altchiler’s choreography to “One Short Day” from Wicked. They began class with a warm up, and ended with an in-depth discussion about preparing for professional auditions. They were sent a link after class and instructed to continue checking for the mock audition information.

Chorus dancers & singers for the Broadway production of BOOP! THE BETTY BOOP MUSICAL.
PREPARATION
The audition will begin promptly with a dance call. Please bring sneakers or jazz shoes. Please bring a hardcopy headshot and resume. If you do not have a hardcopy of your headshot, make sure you email it to jessicaaltchiler@gmail.com. Please sign up for a time slot in case you are asked to sing. Please bring 16-bars of a contemporary musical theatre or pop/rock song. Bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.

Week 3
Mock Audition
Jessica offered group and individual feedback in the moment during the dance call, and individual feedback during the singing auditions, which was available for their reference via the videos. Students were allowed to submit a self tape if they were not able to make the in person audition.
Prior to the audition, students signed up online for their singing call. The morning of the audition, they were asked to sign in physically and remain in the holding room. Once asked inside, they were brought through a dance call, and asked to stay and sing for their “callback.” All dance and singing auditions were recorded and distributed to students.

Nick Burrage, current Dance Captain of Broadway’s Moulin Rouge shared about his experience on Broadway, on Broadway touring companies, auditioning, being behind the table at auditions, and more.
